Welcome to the Material Focus Funded Pilots Dashboard.
v. 10/11/2025
Pilots Map
The dashboard opens with 'Map View' open. Each pilot is shown on the map as a circle coloured by Pilot Type:
- Kerbside
- Flats
- Community drop-off points
- On-street bring banks
- Reuse
- Repair
- Vapes
Each pilot is also labelled with the Funding Round (e.g. '2019-2020'). The local authorities that contain Funded Pilots, or which Material Focus has previously funded, are coloured pink to highlight areas of the UK which have received funding.
Checkboxes on the left sidebar allow you to hide/view pilots by selecting subsets of the Pilot Types and Funding Rounds.
Pilots Table
Clicking on the 'Table View' tab at the top shows all the pilots in a table. Sort the table by clicking on the column names at the top, and search for key words or pilot names in the search box (top right).
Map Export
In the sidebar (left) are three buttons which allows you to download the map view only (without the table or sidebar functionality) as an HTML file. Choose to download the map with four options:
- Full map as shown (pilot points and pink local authorities)
- Full map with pilots hidden on load (toggle to make them visible)
- Local Authorities only (pink polygons)
- Funded Pilot markers only
Data Export / Import
There is a 'Download Data' button that allows you to save the Pilots dataset as an Excel file (XLSX). You can then make changes to the pilots listed, and add/remove pilots (keeping the column names the same) and resave as XLSX. The new file can be loaded into the dashboard using the 'Browse' button, in the sidebar under 'Import new data as an Excel file in the same format'.
When making changes to the pilots data you can add new Funding Rounds, but the Pilot Types must be from the list above.
There is a 'Link' column where you can paste a single URL (copied from browser), and this will be added to the pilot description as a clickable link.
Once the new data has been loaded you can download a map with the new data, but when you reload the dashboard it will reset to the original data that is hardcoded.
